Internal conflict at Home Affairs affects residents
The Middelburg Department of Home Affairs employees embarked on a strike on Monday.
It is not clear what led to the strike.
Residents who arrived at about 07:00 were left with no choice but to leave as the employees locked themselves inside the building.
When www.mobserver.co.za arrived at the offices at about 09:00, it found frustrated residents waiting outside the building hoping to be assisted.
Minutes later an employee told the angry residents to enter the building to receive assistance.
He told www.mobserver.co.za that only three out of 18 workers were willing to work, he further said that the other colleagues had left work and were nowhere to be found.
