Boy found safe – three detained after joint operation

Kidnapper drops boy off outside Piet Retief.

15-year-old Luzuko Mbisi is safe at home in Piet Retief!

His return to his family last night followed a joint operation by Mr Anthony Boucher (from SA Investigations and Security, based in Middelburg), a Task Team from Piet Retief, the Witbank Tactical Response Team and the Witbank Police.

Luzuko and Aphumelele Nama (24) were abducted during a house robbery in Piet Retief on Sunday night.

Mr Boucher was asked by the family to help the police with the investigation.

Aphumelele was found safe on Tuesday and the team continued looking for Luzuko.

According to Mr Boucher, their investigation last night led them first to an informal settlement in eMalahleni.

A man and a woman were detained and the man led them to an address in Tasbet Park (eMalahleni) where another woman was detained.

With information gained on the scene, another man fled with Luzuko shortly before their arrival.

Mr Boucher said they managed to get in contact with the kidnapper on his cell phone and told him that they were in pursuit.

The kidnapper sped in the direction of Piet Retief, where he dropped Luzuko off about 10km outside of the town and disappeared.

A motorist picked Luzuko up and he arrived at his grandmother’s house between 02:00–03:00 this morning.

• The kidnappers’ vehicle, which was used during the house robbery and the kidnapping, was also found.
