Success for Mid Cycling at Sabie Xperience
Middelburg Cycling Club claimed three podiums at the Sabie Xperience over the weekend.
Jano Venter and Adele du Plessis and Sanet and Bertus Griesel claimed first and third place as mixed teams, while Christine Wentzel and Wilna Greyling came third as a ladies team in the Team Lite category, which covered a total distance of 116km.
The three-day stage race was a tough MTB course starting and ending in Sabie Falls, which took cyclists on a loop through the steep and gruelling Long Tom Pass to Lydenburg.
Stage one consisted of 42km and 800m elevation, stage two 45km and 850m elevation with the final stage covering 32km and 600m elevation.
Jano and Adele finished with an overall time of 06:11:53 while Sanet and Bertus finished in 07:59:43 and Christine and Wilna finished with an overall time of 09:25:21.
“The race was well-organised and great fun, but the route was very technical, which saw to several falls,” Sanet told the Middelburg Observer.
