Lumardt on the road to recovery
The Rooies cyclist who was admitted into ICU after a hit-and-run is on the road to recovery.
Lumardt Pienaar (18) was transferred from the ICU of Life Cosmos Hospital to the Flora Clinic on Thursday for specialised care due to continued and severe seizures.
The promising cyclist was struck from his bicycle in a hit-and-run while cycling on Sunday in eMalahleni.
Lumardt, who was diagnosed with epilepsy, suffered severe seizures since the accident.
According to Lumardt’s mother, Raylene Pienaar, the young man has shown improvement since his transfer, and has gone through a day without any seizures due to an adjustment in medication.
The ligaments in his arm were also torn.
“He looks even better than he did this morning, we are so grateful and believe the worst is behind us,” a message from Raylene read.
She also thanked everyone for their prayers and support.
