Well-known businessman sparks uproar after allegedly defying Dros rules

This led to the businessman reportedly instructing his bodyguards to remove the customers who were busy dining.

Dros Middelburg said it would be opening a case of intimidation against a customer.

This comes after a customer, who is a prominent businessman in Middelburg, and his bodyguards illegally removed other diners from the restaurant last night (Saturday).

The Middelburg Observer reached out to the owner of the establishment, Chris Silver, about the incident.

Silver said the businessman came into the restaurant in the afternoon yesterday with his wife and bodyguards.

He wanted to bring his dog to the restaurant.

A manager on duty told him that pets were not allowed on the premises.

The businessman left and said he would return later.

He went to the restaurant later that evening at around 20:00 and allegedly walked past the manager at the front desk with his dog and about 12 bodyguards.

The manager asked him to leave the restaurant.

This led to the businessman reportedly instructing his bodyguards to remove the customers who were busy dining.

The guards intimidated the customers by going to each table and telling them to leave the restaurant.

The restaurants Facebook post.

This incident made the restaurant incur a loss as the patrons didn’t pay for their meals.

Silver said he has video footage of the incident, however, he shall not release it as he is awaiting legal advice before proceeding. He intends to open a case and as such, this could be essential evidence.

He has apologised to his customers about the incident and the inconvenience it may have caused them.

Business is open as usual and he hopes that patrons will return to their favoured dining spot.
