Ethiopian accused of six-year-old’s rape remanded in custody

A man was remanded in custody for the alleged rape of a six-year-old girl in Arnot.

An Ethiopian man accused of raping a six-year-old girl from Arnot is remanded in custody after his arrest and court appearance.

The 27-year-old man was arrested on Saturday in connection with the rape of the six-year-old last week Thursday at around 18:00 after she was sent to buy something from a tuck shop in Arnot.

According to feedback from the National Prosecuting Authority, the suspect appeared in the Hendrina Magistrate’s Court today and the case was postponed until April 14 for a formal bail application and an interpreter.

The suspect remains in custody.
