Did you see the Strawberry Moon?

Stargazers were treated with a lunar display on Tuesday and Wednesday night when the rare Strawberry Moon made its appearance.

The phenomenon will only reoccur in the next eighteen years.

Citizens were encouraged to see it rising and setting in South African skies, with the moon said to be at its most spectacular during moonrise and moonset.

Its name, naturally, has no reference to its colour, but was called such by the Native American Algonquian tribes in reference to the short strawberry harvesting season that falls around this time of year, according to space.com.

If you were lucky to experience the rare and spectacular lunar display, share your experiences and photos with us on 072 248 3855 via WhatsApp.
