Beware of spikes and hijackers on our roads

Motorists travelling the N4 and N12 should be weary of spiking and hijacking incidents.

Motorists using the N4 route are urged to be on the lookout for spikes and hijackers.

A truck was hijacked while travelling on the N4 last Friday night.

According to information, the suspects used a bakkie and a car during the hijacking.
The truck driver was allegedly stopped and held at gunpoint by the suspects with rifles.

After the incident was reported, the truck was tracked and found in a different location with the trailer missing.

The truck owner was later called by other drivers, who notified him that the missing trailer was seen parked unattended, where it was retrieved.
Both the truck and trailer are now at the Middelburg Police Station, while the investigations are underway.

• Several motorists travelling from Middelburg and surrounding areas reported sighting spikes on the N4 and N12.
