Kranspoort Pass closed following fiery crash

Kranspoort Pass has been closed after a truck carrying chemicals caught fire in a collision.

Two trucks travelling on the N11 (Loskop road) in Groblersdal, collided with each other in the Kranspoort Pass resulting in one catching fire.

The accident was reported this evening at 17:50, at the last arrestor bed in the pass

The fire, which has since spread into the veld, is also causing noxious smoke.

According to Derick Maidment from 24/7 Towing, the pass has been closed and will likely remain closed throughout the night.

He added that lanes are being opened to allow emergency vehicles passage. Civilians should use the Stoffberg road.

Louwtjie Swart from Louw’s Towing confirmed that the pass is closed.
