Road works on Meyer Street might conclude on Tuesday

With a bit of luck, traffic congestion might ease for Middelburg once the road works on Meyer Street are completed.

Meyer Street, known to carry high traffic volumes, particularly heavy motor vehicles, has been closed off since Thursday afternoon last week for road repairs.

According to DA Ward Councillor Johann Dyason, who also serves on the Portfolio Committee for Infrastructure, motorists could expect Meyer Street to possibly reopen tomorrow.

“I paid a visit to the road works site on Sunday, during which the team informed me that they plan to finish today (Monday). Hopefully, to road will be open by Tuesday.”

Meyer Street is one of three roads in Middelburg that have undergone repairs by Sanral.

According to Dyason, maintenance is also being done on Cowen Ntuli Street, while the repairs to Walter Sisulu Street are said to be complete.

• A media enquiry was directed to Sanral’s press office to confirm when the road works on Meyer Street will be complete. No response was received by the time of publication.
