Suspected armed robbery at a café turns out to be a hoax

Police investigate a false alarm robbery report.

Police responded to a call about an armed robbery at a café near HTS Middelburg this evening, which turned out to be a false alarm.

In a message received from a source, two women reportedly saw men armed with weapons that appeared to be AK47’s.

Upon arrival of the police, it was discovered that there were no such weapons. It was just a man that was confronted on suspicion of carrying a stolen gate motor.

The man was let go after he produced a receipt showing that he had bought the gate motor.
