Suspect arrested after CBD cash-in-transit robbery

One suspect was arrested for the cash-in-transit robbery that took place last Monday in the Middelburg CBD.

A breakthrough has been made in last Monday’s cash-in-transit robbery in SADC Street, after a suspect was arrested in Dennilton yesterday and a BMW, which could be linked to the getaway, was seized.

Seven robbers ambushed security guards using two automatic weapons and handguns. One guard was shot in both legs, while the second was shot in his arm.

The group fled with the stolen cash in a white BMW and a silver Mercedes-Benz Kompressor.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Middelburg Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
