Funeral arrangements finalised for well-known farmer Niels Erichsen

Middelburg farmer Niels Erichsen will be laid to rest on his family farm on February 28.

The funeral arrangements for well-known Stoffberg farmer Niels Erichsen, who passed away on Sunday, have been finalised.

The service will take place next Saturday, 28 February at 11:00, on the family farm Keerom, situated on the R555 Stoffberg road.

Niels had faced health challenges in recent months. After a successful heart valve replacement in August 2025, he returned to the farm life he loved. At the end of January this year, he fell ill again, and doctors later confirmed that a stent was needed to open a main artery. He was admitted to Wilgers Hospital, where he received dedicated care.

He was discharged on Wednesday, 11 February, but had to be readmitted that Friday due to an infection. Despite the efforts of the medical team, he passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 15, at around 17:45.

The Erichsen family thanked everyone for their love and support during this difficult time.
