WATCH: Repairs continue on Meyer Street

Meyer Street repair work continues after a stormwater pipe collapsed, leaving part of the road flooded.

Repair work on Meyer Street is continuing after a collapsed stormwater pipe caused a large water-filled hole, which disrupted traffic.

Municipal teams have already begun work at the site, but the repairs have not yet been completed.

The hole, which initially raised concerns about a possible sinkhole, was later confirmed to have been caused by the collapse of a stormwater pipe that damaged the road surface and left a section of Meyer Street, near the Joubert Street turn-off, submerged.

Although progress has been made, the damaged section of the road remains under repair, and motorists are advised to be cautious when travelling on Meyer Street.

A media enquiry was sent to the municipal spokesperson, Lerato Kgomo, who forwarded the enquiry to the relevant department. An update will be published as soon as a response is received.
