Bodies of man and woman found in storeroom

Shockwaves spread through Kanonkop after two bodies with gunshot wounds were discovered in an outside storeroom in Sering Street.

The bodies of a man and a woman were found in an outside storeroom at a property in Sering Street yesterday (Sunday).

It is believed the incident occurred the previous day.

According to information received, concern was raised when the woman failed to answer her phone. Family members then contacted a security company to check on the property.

Upon arrival, security officers reportedly noticed blood seeping from underneath the storeroom door and alerted the police.

Police entered the outside storeroom, where the bodies of both individuals were discovered lying close to each other, with gunshot wounds to their upper bodies.

Provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Mavela Masondo, confirmed that an inquest docket has been opened. He did not comment on speculation that the incident may be a murder-suicide.

A reliable source indicated that a small-calibre firearm, believed to belong to the man, was found at the scene. Col Masondo confirmed that a firearm was found on the scene.
