A tactical team is moving in on a vehicle found on a farm road off the N11 Hendrina road following widespread reports of a possible abduction in Middelburg tonight.
A vehicle linked to earlier reports of an alleged abduction has now been confirmed as found on a farm road next to the N11 Hendrina road.
Emergency groups were initially deployed across Middelburg tonight after WhatsApp messages circulated claiming a possible abduction in Eastdene, which led to widespread searches across several routes including the N11 and old Belfast road.
The vehicle, a silver Audi A4 that was widely shared on social media, was later found abandoned, prompting a rapid response from emergency services. It has since been confirmed by a reliable source that a tactical team is approaching the scene.
According to eyewitness reports, two occupants allegedly jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot before the area was secured.
Further confusion earlier in the evening included unverified reports suggesting that a child and later an adult businessman may have been involved, as well as claims of shots fired during the incident. It was since been confirmed by a reliable source that it is indeed a man that was abducted.
The situation remains ongoing, and authorities are expected to provide further information once the scene has been fully secured.
