Head-on crash closes Cowen Ntuli Street in Middelburg

Emergency and medical personnel are attending to multiple injuries.

Motorists are advised that Cowen Ntuli Street is closed following a serious head-on collision near the Luttig Street intersection just before midnight.

According to the local Traffic Alert group, the crash occurred shortly before midnight on Friday, April 24. Initial reports indicate that a BMW and a Volkswagen Polo were involved in the collision.

Paramedics and emergency responders arrived swiftly and are currently attending to several critically injured patients on-site. The exact number of occupants in the vehicles, as well as the total number of injuries, has not yet been confirmed.

South African Police Service (SAPS) members, Traffic officials, ER 24 and Middelburg Fire department have secured the area, with the road fully closed to traffic while emergency teams carry out rescue and stabilisation efforts.

At this stage, there has been no official confirmation regarding fatalities.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area and make use of alternative routes while authorities remain on the scene.
