When you lose your dentures and glasses

Desperate runner turns to social media after race.

When the tekkies hit the tarmac over 50km or 90km, funny things can happen.
A runner lost his dentures in a water trough one year at the Comrades. Another heard that you should drink caffeine when you get tired, and so he bought Lert tablets from a pharmacy. The tablets had the opposite effect, and he was slouching across the road like a drunk.

Comrades legend Bruce Fordyce said he was full of pain and exhausted one year. His sister gave him a pill that only women take, and he immediately felt better.
Now there is a Loskop marathon participant who is desperate to get back her prescription glasses she lost at a water point on Saturday.

Grace Phosa wrote, “The race was beautiful with favourable weather. I lost my prescription spectacles at one of the water points or on the road. If anyone saw them, please contact me or the Loskop organisers. I really need them as they assist me in my vision.”

Meanwhile, praise for the race continues to pour in.

Johan Kirsten: You exceeded expectations again! Well done to the race committee and race director. Well planned and executed race. The water points were spectacular and so helpful. Fully stocked with everything. Well done, Loskop Marathon.

Derrick Daniels: Best race overall! Outshines many other marathons. Once again, they’ve outdone themselves. Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Thank you to each and every one who made it another champion event!! Just love the Loskop Marathon.

Colleen Bothma Potgieter: Best organised race ever!

Larissa Donker: Perfect day, water points, weather, thank you.

Junior Swans: What an exceptional event. Keep up the good work.

Ndengezi Kamayebuka: Everything was on high class, thank you.

Dokka le Grange: Well organised. Perfect as usual. Thank you. I will be back.

Jane Neilson: Other races should contact you on how to run a marathon and ultras. Give yourself a big pat on the back.

Catharina de Buys Cronje: Just loved the muddy 21km.
