SPCA need blankets to beat winter chill

Middelburg SPCA is preparing for winter and they are in need blankets for the animals in their care.

As the icy winter conditions approach and night-time temperatures continue to drop, the Middelburg SPCA is making an urgent appeal on behalf of the animals in their care.

The organisation’s need for blankets is growing daily, as more dogs and cats rely on their shelter for safety and warmth.

Many of these four-legged residents have already escaped harsh and neglectful environments, leaving them especially vulnerable to the cold.

According to senior inspector Petro Oberholzer, residents can donate old blankets, towels, or any soft, warm materials.

These donations will help create warm bedding for the animals while they wait for a new family, a new home, and a fresh start.

“Every blanket brings warmth and comfort. It’s a small gesture that makes a big difference for us,” she said.

Residents who would like to assist can drop off donations directly at the SPCA.

As the community prepares for the colder months ahead, remember, no animal should have to face winter alone.
