The Stoffberg Road is closed, and traffic is backed up in both directions following a crash between an Iveco carrier and a truck.

One fatality has been confirmed.

The truck landed on its side following the crash, necessitating a tricky recovery operation.

According to information received, the truck is carrying a flammable liquid, possibly fuel.

Motorists are urged to use alternative routes, as the road may remain closed for another four hours while recovery operations continue.

Motorists currently stranded can use the Elandslaagte route.

The N11 Loskop route can also be used.

Police, emergency services and towing services remain on the scene.

The accident comes on the back of a number of crashes last night, one involving a vehicle and a kudu.

A pedestrian was also run over on the Stoffberg Road during the night.
