N4 Toll Route: Expect repairs this week

Motorists travelling on the N4 this week, should take note of repair work being done at several toll plazas in Mpumalanga.

Maintenance teams are currently busy replacing damaged paving bricks and repairing sections of the express lane at multiple toll plazas in the eastbound direction on the N4.

Affected Toll Plazas:

  • Middelburg Toll Plaza
  • Machado Toll Plaza
  • Nkomazi Toll Plaza

Dedicated e-tag lanes remain open.

A TRAC N4 notice suggests that sections of paving are being lifted and replaced while workers carry out repairs around the toll lanes.

The maintenance work is expected to continue until May 22.

The N4 remains one of Mpumalanga’s busiest transport routes, with large volumes of freight and commuter traffic moving through the toll plazas daily.

Even minor lane closures can quickly lead to backups during peak periods, and motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time over the next few days.

Drivers are urged to slow down when approaching the toll plazas, follow temporary road signs, and keep a safe following distance from construction workers and other vehicles.
