Loskopdam, A Forever Resort, is one of the resorts included in the transaction following Benus Trade and Invest’s acquisition of Forever Resorts.

Benus Trade and Invest is an investment company directly linked to Community Investment Holdings (CIH), a black-controlled investment group.

The resorts were originally government-owned under the name Overvaal; they were later acquired and rebranded as Aventura.

There are no immediate changes for holidaymakers. The new owners confirmed in a statement that the resorts will continue to operate under their well-known flagship brand, Forever Resorts.
All existing bookings, amenities, campsites, and conference facilities remain unchanged.

New ownership commits to brand continuity and growth

CIH has indicated its intention to preserve the resorts’ historic legacy and ensure they remain enjoyable for future generations.

According to the resort group’s management, the new capital and partnership will facilitate strategic growth and further development for the resorts.

Only the private holiday resort on the banks of Loskop Dam has been sold. The physical dam itself (used for the Loskop Irrigation Scheme) and the Loskop Dam Nature Reserve remain under the control of the relevant authorities.

The Observerhas sent enquiries to the company and is awaiting a response.

Local infrastructure and events unaffected by transaction

It is not yet known whether Ruby Cliff Horse Ranch, Matombu Wild, Isiyala, and Leopard Creek are included in the acquisition.

Loskop Dam forms an integral part of Middelburg’s economy, with tourists passing through the town and shopping on their way to the resort via the N11.

The dam is also an angling mecca, hosting major competitions such as the Loskop Dam Classic, the Kurper and Bass Bonanza, the Carp Bonanza, and the popular annual barbel competition.
The Loskop Marathon has also finished at the resort for years.

Race organiser Hein Koch stated this morning that he is aware the resort has been sold; although he has not yet spoken to the new owners, the operations and activities associated with the Loskop Marathon will continue.

“We are excited about the change and believe our collaboration will lead to new opportunities benefiting both parties.”

Visitors voice feedback as resort history remembered

Shortly after the transaction was announced, Forever Resorts received feedback from visitors on social media.

While some resorts were praised for their consistently excellent facilities and service, many faced criticism.
Complaints focused particularly on loud music and facilities at certain Forever Resorts that no longer met required standards.

Loskop Dam and its surrounding area boast a rich history filled with fascinating stories, especially regarding the construction of the dam wall.
There was even a drive-in theatre on the terrain.
