DHL Stormers hooker/flank Deon Fourie has confirmed that he is leaving South Africa to play in France for Lyon at the end of the Super Rugby season.

The versatile forward, who can play as a hooker or on the flank, has signed a two-year deal with the side that has recently earned promotion back into French Top 14.

Fourie has been linked with a move to France before and now that the deal is done he says he is looking forward to his new adventure away from South African shores.

“I am excited to join Lyon, who have big ambitions in the Top 14 next season,” said Fourie.

“I’m sure this is only the beginning of a long and successful collaboration.”

Fourie led Western Province to the Currie Cup title in 2012, but will miss the competition this year as he will depart for France on the conclusion of Stormers’ Super Rugby season.
