22 Medals for JKA at SA’s

Students of the Middelburg JKA Karate came back with 22 medals from the South African JKA Karate Championships.

The championships was held at the Standard Bank Arena in Johannesburg. There were a total of 3 700 students who took part in the championships over the two days and some divisions had up to 40 students entering.

Middelburg JKA won seven gold medals, six silver and nine bronze. Two of the students also qualified to take part in the African Cup, during September 2015, and achieved their SA JKA colours. They are Marcus Aslett and Henko Volschenk.

The results are as follows:

Marleen Seidel: bronze (Kumite – Fighting).

Marco Jardine: bronze (Kata – Form).

Joe Bower: silver (Kumite).

Kobus Boshoff: gold (Kata).

John Welsh: bronze (Kumite).

Dieter Giebler: bronze (Kumite).

Henko Volschenk: bronze (Kumite).

Rehanne van der Westhuizen: bronze (Kata).

Sensei Christelle Fourie: bronze (Kata).

Sensei Josef van Eeden: bronze (Kata).

Helena Seidel: bronze (Kumite) and silver (Kata).

Xian Iyer: silver (Kumite and Kata).

Chanelsa Jordaan: bold (Kumite) and bronze (Kata).

Lizca Heystek: silver (Kumite and Kata).

Marno Buitendach: gold (Kumite and Kata).

Waldo Boshoff: gold (Kumite and Kata).
