Entries closed for GTR 2019

The entries for the GTR 2019 race closed on 31 July.

There are a few important changes that the participants and spectators need to take note of.

There will be no parking available at the dam for this year’s event.

There will be a Park and Ride Shuttle Bus Service this year. Participants and spectators are requested to park at Witbank High School, Laerskool Taalfees or WH de Klerk School at a fee of R20 per vehicle.

The shuttle bus fee is already included in the entry fee for participants. Members of the general public can purchase tickets at R30 on the day at the bus loading points. The shuttle service will run continuously throughout the day until 15:00.

Long-distance participants that need to be dropped off at the start by friends/family are reminded that they need to do so before the R555 road is closed at 6:00. Alternatively, bus tickets may be booked with your entry for an extra R70.

The community that makes use of the R555 between Middelburg and eMalahleni must take note that the road will be closed to traffic from 6:00 on Saturday the 24th of August up until 13:00, to ensure the safety of participants.

The road will re-open in a moving road closure as the participants’ progress.

The roads affected by the partial road closure during the event are OR Tambo- up to Mandela Street, Mona-, Bethal-, Mandela Road up to Witbank Dam.
Road users should expect delays.

Although these streets are not completely closed, the public is advised to rather avoid these areas between 6:00 and 13:00 on Saturday 24 August.

Starting times: 32km and 15km race 7:00, Fun Run 8:00 and Teams from 8:20 onwards.
