Video: Taxi war continues
Taxi war between the Nasareth District Taxi Association NDTA and Extension 24's/ Rockdale residents stormed up again on Wednesday afternoon when police allegedly opened fire on the protesters again.
While a meeting between the NDTA, Extension 24 representatives, and Municipal Managaer was taking place at the Municipal offices.
The short clash according to a witness started when Nasareth and some Rockdale residents started throwing stones at taxis from Mhluzi, leaving a Nasareth taxi driver injured and a Mhluzi driver hospitalized due to injuries and his taxis back windscreen shattered.
Rockdale and Extension 24 after their strike last week gave Mhluzi Taxi’s permission to pick up commuters due to the disagreement between them and the NDTA.
On Wednesday after the clash no taxis picked up commuters fearing attacks.
The Wednesday evening more violence surfaced when Nasareth residents burnt tyres on the N11.
The Observer Journalist who was on the scene saw Extension 24 residents march down into the Nasareth community in which both parties started throwing stones and bottles at each other.
A solid conclusion was not reached during the meeting between the NDTA and Extension 24/ Rockdale residents on Wednesday.
