BMW’s trail of crime

Two police officers fell prey to criminals who stole one officer's service pistol, and pistol-whipped his colleague, when they responded to a complaint about black money at Doornkop on Saturday night.

The incident occurred around 19:30 when the officers, identified as constable Sukazi and w/o Dibakwane, were attacked from behind while talking to the complainant who phoned regarding a black money scheme.

Constable Sukazi was immediately disarmed by the two suspects who also pistol-whipped w/o Dibakwane in his face.

The suspects then fled with the silver BMW which was stopped and searched in Gholfsig on Wednesday by the Gholfsig/Clubville CPF and radio group.

Photos of the car and the driver was taken by the CPF members who alerted the police.

Upon the police’s arrival in Totius Street where the BMW was parked in front of a home, the car and the driver’s particulars where checked.

Police were satisfied that everything was in order, and sent the BMW on its way.

The same BMW is however also believed to be involved in the hijacking of a red VW Polo in the eMalahleni CBD on Friday night.

The dots were quickly connected when Constable Sukazi and w/o Dibakwane alerted their colleagues about their ordeal.

The SAPS circulated both the red Polo and BMW’s particulars among the local radio groups and Middelburg 911. A massive search ensued and the Polo was traced to Iraq taxi rank by Netstar and recovered by Middelburg 911.

The vehicle’s owner, identified only as Ms Madonsela, was notified and the car was returned.

The BMW was followed back to eMalahleni but disappeared in the Jackaroo Park area.

Both constable Sukazi and w/o Dibakwane positively linked the BMW and its Ugandan driver, that was photographed by the Gholfsig CPF and radio group in Gholfsig earlier the week, with the Doornkop robbery.

No arrests have been made and the search is on for Dickson Nelson Ayebare and the other suspect.
