A WOMAN was hijacked while driving her black Mercedes Benz on New Road, near the N1 South on 29 July.

Midrand police spokesperson, Constable Matome Tlamela, said the complainant was driving when her cellphone fell on the road, so she stopped and parked at the side of the road to pick it up.

“While picking up her phone she was surprised by three armed suspects who pointed a firearm at her and ordered her not to look at them. They put her in the backseat of her car and drove around with her,” said Tlamela.

While driving, the suspects were communicating in Northern Sotho and after some time she was dropped off at New Road. The suspects drove off with her vehicle which had her iPhone, wallet with bank cards, CDs, iPad and R800 cash, all estimated to the value of R130 000,” according to Tlamela.

The vehicle was later recovered by tracker at Southgate Mall.

“No-one has been arrested yet and police are busy with the investigations hoping to bring the suspects to book,” added Tlamela.police 16 (Medium)
