Midrand police spokesperson Constable Matome Tlamela said, “The stranger told the complainant that he had been robbed of his cellphone and asked to use the complainant’s cellphone to make a call.
“He also asked the complainant for a lift. Along the way the suspect pulled a firearm on the complainant and stole the complainant’s belongings to the value of R16 000.”
Tlamela said Midrand police advised the public to be aware of thugs that pretend to be victims of crime. “Please do not stop to offer people you do not know lifts along the road. Rather let them contact the police if they are really in danger,” Tlamela added.
Police are investigating the matter, no one has been arrested yet.
