Modderfontein Road on red alert

PRESIDENT PARK - There has been two incidents of house robberies in Modderfontein Road, President Park.

On 18 October at 10pm, a house was robbed. Midrand police communication officer Constable Matome Tlamela said, “According to the complainant he was in his bedroom when his son told him there were people inside the yard.

“The complainant said he went to the front door to check and he found a man in the lounge. He said there were 10 suspects. The suspects proceeded to lock the family in the bedroom.”

The complainant said the suspects took four laptops, four cellphones, a camera, cash, a wallet, handbag and car keys. He said the suspects tried to start his car but were unsuccessful and he found the keys on the grass.

The stolen items were estimated to the value of R250 000. Tlamela said no arrests have been made.
On 19 October there was a house robbery and attempted murder in Modderfontein Road at about 3am.

Tlamela said, “According to the complainant she was sleeping next to her husband when three unknown men entered the bedroom and pointed firearms at them. The suspects tied up her husband with cellphone chargers and stole five cellphones and cash.”

The complainant said the suspects entered her brother’s room, assaulted him and robbed him of R800. As the robbers were leaving, they encountered two other occupants of the house. The intruders told the men to lie down but they refused. They shot the one in the stomach and the other in the leg before fleeing the scene. Tlamela said no one had been arrested.
