Tip off leads to five arrests

MIDRAND - A concerned resident's information led to arrests in Noordwyk.

Police bust five suspects on 11 November at 10.30am. Midrand police communication officer Constable Matome Tlamela said, “The crime prevention and crime intelligence members arrested five suspects on Lever Road after a tip off.”

The police followed information received and upon arrival they found four men in a house and police introduced themselves and explained the reason for their visit.

“They searched the suspects and the house and they found three laptops and cellphones hidden underneath a bed. The police asked the suspects about the laptops and they did not give a satisfactory explanation of where they got them and were immediately arrested for possession of suspected stolen property.”

During the arrest, the police were approached by an unknown man who gave them R200 to bribe them to release his four brothers. He was promptly arrested for bribery.
