Homeowner injured during burglary

GLEN AUSTIN - A house in George Street in Glen Austin was robbed at 3am on 15 November.

Midrand police communications officer Constable Matome Tlamela said a neighbour was woken by a scream. She looked out of the window and saw a man in the house next door who appeared to be stealing a television.

“The complainant described the man as wearing a black T-shirt and black trousers. The complainant and her father called the police,” said Tlamela.

He said the neighbour then went to the house and noticed that the burglar door had been forced open and saw the owner of the house lying on the floor, bleeding. She immediately called an ambulance.

“The victim was taken to Carstenhof Clinic for medical attention,” said Tlamela.

The stolen television was later found outside the house.

“No one has been arrested yet and police are still busy investigating, hoping to bring suspect to book,” said Tlamela.
