Still no justice for ‘fraudster’ victims

MIDRAND - Victims of a former Midrand resident accused of fraud will have to wait for justice in the new year.

The man is accused of defrauding people in Midrand and Mpumalanga, and as these areas fall under the South and North High Courts respectively, it is not likely the cases would be grouped together – as many of the victims had hoped.

The man appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on 25 November, as scheduled after he was released on R5000 bail on 23 October.

The man’s court appearance on 25 November was brief as his attorney asked for a postponement, which he received until 30 January.

On 28 November, the man appeared in the Hazyview Magistrate’s Court and the case was again postponed to 6 February.

The man received bail twice in October and the case has seen numerous postponements to the frustration of the victims, however, they have said they will continue to fight for justice.
