Man arrested for bomb threat at Sanral

A MAN has been arrested for the bomb threat at the Sanral offices in Midrand.

Sanral spokesperson Vusi Mona said, “The agency would like to thank the police’s Directorate for Priority Crime investigation unit – also known as Hawks – for their efficiency in arresting a man who caused, with a bomb threat, [the] evacuation at the central operations centre in Midrand last week.

“The man arrested works for a service provider to the Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project. He is not a Sanral employee as has been mistakenly reported.

“The arrest should send a message that, while peaceful protest is every citizen’s right, a bomb threat or any hoax is a serious offence.”

More information on the court date and charges will be released soon.
