Man hijacked, stripped, car stolen

PRESIDENT PARK - Three armed men hijacked a man in President Park.

The incident occurred on the corner of Dale and Modderfontein roads on 2 February.

Midrand police communications officer Constable Matome Tlamela said, “According to the complainant the three suspects asked him to drive them to Midrand, however on their way, the men stopped the complainant and told him that they wanted to urinate.”

Tlamela said the complainant stopped and one of the suspects got out of the vehicle and pretended as though he was going to urinate. But he suddenly turned around and pointed a firearm at the victim’s head.

“The complainant was ordered to climb into the back of the vehicle and the suspects drove off with him,” she said.

“They ordered the complainant to take off his clothes and hand them over.”

He was later dropped off in Houghton where he was rescued by security officers.

“The suspects left the scene with the complainant’s car,” said Tlamela.

She said no arrests had been made and police were still investigating the case.

“The community is advised not to give lifts to strangers as this may endanger to their lives,” said Tlamela.
