Protect yourself from jamming

KYALAMI RIDGE - Community proved just how much good can be done when people pull together.

Midrand police communications officer Constable Matome Tlamela said, “On 4 February at 8am, a complainant parked his vehicle in the parking area of a Caltex garage on the N1 North with all of the windows and doors properly locked. At about 8.05am when he returned to his vehicle, he opened the boot and noticed that his wallet, two laptops, drivers licence and personal documents were stolen.”

She said there was no sign of forced entry and the suspect is unknown. It is suspected that the suspects used a car-jamming device to access the vehicle.

Tlamela said there was another theft out of a truck’s trailer that was parked in the same car park on the same day.
The complainant parked his truck and trailer in the car park at 7pm on 4 February and locked the doors and windows and fell asleep.

“The complainant woke up at about 4.30am and noticed that the trailer had been forced open and 25 boxes of the bakers mix raisins, at an estimated value of R5 000, were stolen,” said Tlamela.

The suspects are unknown and no arrests have been made but police are investigating and hope to bring the suspects to book.
