Domestics to get gate education

MIDRAND - DomesticC workers are welcomed to the Making A Difference Campaign's February meeting with the topic gates.

The campaign’s Penny Steyn explained, “This is such an important topic, I have touched on aspects of this with other lessons before but this is the first time I am purely concentrating on gates and gate security. I have great pictures on the domestic workers’ lesson sheets and my attendees can use them to show their employers how to secure gates properly, and much more.”

Steyn started the campaign for domestic workers to become more educated in how to prevent crime and said it was becoming a real force to be reckoned with.

“The biggest problem the police have is a lack of information. Where Domestic Watch meetings are well attended, crime has radically reduced. Domestics do know what is going on in our suburb,” said Steyn.

The meetings take place on the second last Thursday of every month at 11am, and Sun Valley’s La Fiorentina is the venue. All domestic workers from the Midrand area are invited to attend.

This month, the meeting is on 20 February. La Fiorentina is situated on the corner of Champion and Bridle Pass roads.
