Sleeping residents’ house burgled

NOORWYK - A house on Featherbrush Street in Noordwyk was burgled while the residents were asleep.

Midrand police communications officer Constable Matome Tlamela said, “On 13 February at about 2am, a housebreaking and theft occurred and property to an estimated value of R12 000 was stolen.”

According to the complainant, she received a phonecall at about 2am and woke up to take the cellphone to her daughter, after that she went back to sleep. “Everything was in order and all doors and windows were properly closed and locked,” added Tlamela.

Tlamela said at about 6.45am when she was preparing to go to work, the complainant noticed that her electric kettle was missing from the kitchen and upon further investigation, she found that an iPad and handbag containing cash, cards and a passport was stolen.

“The suspects forced open the dining room window to gain entry into the house. No one has been arrested yet and the police are investigating,” said Tlamela.
