‘Beep and check’ your car

MIDRAND - 'Beep and check' is the safest method of locking a vehicle in a parking area.

Midrand police communications officer Constable Matome Tlamela said on 10 February at around 12.40pm, a complainant parked his vehicle at The Boulders Shopping Centre and all of the doors and windows were properly locked before he left his vehicle.

Tlamela said, “When he returned, he noticed his cellphone, at an estimated value of R7 000, was stolen. There were no signs of forced entry to the vehicle and the suspects are unknown.”

She said another theft out of a motor vehicle occurred near the car wash at the Midway Mews off Harry Galaun Street. “The complainant left his car at the car wash to be washed. He left his iPad and Garmin in the car, however when he came back to fetch his vehicle he noticed that both these items, at an estimated value of R12 000, were missing. No one has been arrested yet,” said Tlamela.
