Woman hijacked outside animal sanctuary

PRESIDENT PARK - A woman was hijacked in the car park of Lory Park Bird and Animal Sanctuary in President Park on 19 February at 1.45pm.

Midrand police communications officer Constable Matome Tlamela said, “According to the complainant, immediately after she parked her vehicle at the parking area suddenly a black Polo came and parked behind her car.”

The complainant said two armed men emerged from the Polo pointed a firearm at her and took her vehicle by force and drove off. “The complainant was driving a grey Hyundai Getz and at the time of the hijacking a Samsung Galaxy cellphone was in the vehicle. The value of all stolen items is estimated at R85 000. The vehicle does not have a tracker [device].”

No shots were fired during the hijacking.

Tlamela said Midrand police were investigating the carjacking case and hoped to bring the suspects to book soon.
