Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane and Education MEC Barbara Creecy will launch the e-learning solution programme on 20 March.
The latest e-learning resources delighted pupils and staff at the school. Principal Silas Pillay said it was exciting to be able to keep abreast with global trends in education. “The school boasts two state of the art computer centres with educational software and information and communication technology resources.”
“At the school we embrace the inevitable fusion of information technology and e-learning in the classroom. We are excited about the education department’s e-learning solution project,” Pillay added.
Gauteng Department of Education spokesperson Phumla Sekhonyane said, “The rollout of the e-learning solution has been prioritised for grades 4 to 9 and for English and maths.”
“The project involves the provision of 88 000 tablets and connectivity in schools across Gauteng. The tablets will be installed with a department of education portal which will have the curriculum based on CAPS [Curriculum Assessment Policy Statements] and workbooks,” Sekhonyane said.
