Foolish fuel robbery

MIDRAND - Police are investigating a theft and armed robbery case.

This after a petrol attendant at the Midwy Mews Engen Garage had a firearm pointed at him on 24 March at about 6pm.

Midrand police communications officer Constable Matome Tlamela said, “The suspect went to the garage and requested R400 of fuel. The petrol attendant served him. … The suspect told the petrol attendant that he forgot his wallet at his house in Noordwyk.”

The suspect asked to use the petrol attendant’s cellphone to make a call and then asked the attendant to drive with him to collect the money at his house.

“On the way to the suspects house, the suspect stopped on the side of the road and pointed a firearm at the complainant and instructed him to get out of his car and he drove off,” said Tlamela.

The suspect was driving a silver/grey Daihatsu.

Tlamela said the police were investigating.
