Young women empowered with business skills
MIDRAND - The Young Women in Business Forum hosted a cocktail event for over 150 women in business recently.
The event held at Imbizo, was themed How to get more young women in business and supported by the National Youth Development Agency and the South African Youth Chamber of Commerce.
One of the speakers a representative from National Youth Development Agency, Humbulane Mulibana, gave a presentation on pertinent issues on women in business. “Women in business can be empowered through Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment which will assist in giving them funding to take their business ideas off the ground or sustaining businesses,” advised Mulibana.
He touched on the importance of women to be empowered with presentation skills to ensure that they represent their businesses well in meetings.
Owner of Imbizo Rita Zwane spoke about her experience as a woman in business, how she started a Shisanyama business which has been a success. “I have succeeded because of my dedication, commitment, scarifice, hardwork and patience. I would like to encourage young women in business to concentrate on building the brand and exceeding the customer satisfaction at all times,” said Zwane.
South African Youth Chamber of Commerce president Thapelo Maleke officially announced Rita Zwane as the patron of the young women in business forum. “Young people starting businesses need role models to inspire them to start and grow enterprises. Zwane is the best person for that.”
