Midrand police communications officer Constable Matome Tlamela said “Apparently while the security officers were busy patrolling at the company premises they spotted four unknown black males next to the company fence. Immediately the security guards decided to split in order to monitor the suspects.”
Tlamela said the guards called their supervisor to report the matter and the supervisor called Midrand police for assistance.
“While they were still waiting for the police to arrive, one of the suspects suddenly jumped over the fence and got into the company premises. The suspect went to the guard room and pointed a firearm at the security officer in the guardroom. With the quick response of the police, they found the suspects at the scene,” explained Tlamela.
Midrand police managed to arrest two suspects and recovered one unlicensed firearm from them. The other two suspects ran away.
“After the arrest, for further investigations the police booked out the suspects for tracing the suspects at large and they pointed one of their accomplice to the police in Halfway House. He was also arrested.”
