Drunk driving arrests over Easter

RABIE RIDGE - The police spokesperson of Rabie Ridge Police Station, Constable Jacob Mhlongo said a number of drunk driving arrests were made over Easter.

“Eight people were arrested for drunk driving on Modderfontein Road in Rabie Ridge and one person was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm,” he said. “The person arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm will appeared in court on 22 April.”

Constable Mhlongo said the motorists arrested for drunken driving will appear in court on 20 October. “The delay is because police have to wait for blood test results before they appear in court. The eight are currently out on free bail until they appear in Thembisa Magistrate’s Court.

“Residents who drink and drive are not only putting their lives at risk but the lives of other road users. Police will not overlook anyone who breaks the rules of the road and safety of others.”
