Mr ADT advised children to always be aware of their surroundings as criminals look for every opportunity to commit crimes.
He told the eagerly listening children, “If your house has an alarm system, press the button when you suspect that someone has broken into your home. You will not hear the alarm go off but ADT officers will hear and come to your home to assist.”
Mr ADT gave an educational show teaching the little ones where to report crime, he also taught them to memorise the number 10 111. “If you know that number you can ask an adult to call the police to help you report any crime.”
Community development manager at ADT Security, Marise Bester explained, “We wanted to do the ADT show and also, seeing this week was Earth Day on 22 April, we chose to plant trees after the show and to show the children how to nurture trees and sustain the environment.”
Anna Mojapelo, the school’s managing director said, “I am happy that ADT came to do the show at the school. Children have to be safe at all times and we need to give them information that helps keep them safe – and also to celebrate Earth Day.”
A pupil at the school, Warona Shivambu helped Mr ADT demonstrate criminal acts. Asked what he learnt he said, “I know that I must call police when my family is not safe on 10111. Mr ADT’s show is fun.”
