Accidental hijacking

MIDRAND - A bumper bashing on Allandale Road led to a hijacking, and now police and Ria Sebetsa Security Services are issuing caution to motorists involved in accidents.

Midrand police and the security firm were called to an incident at about 8pm on 2 May when a grey golf bumped into a complainant’s car on Allandale Road near Harry Galaun Drive.

Managing director of the security company, Danny Maduray said, “It seemed to be an accident. When the complainant stopped to exchange details, three suspects from the grey golf tried to hijack him. The complainant threw his car keys into the bushes. A struggled happened between the complainant and the three suspects, where the complainant was stabbed in the leg and he was shot in the finger.”

Maduray said the complainant realised that the car had followed him on Maxwell Drive through Sunninghill and Waterfall Estates.

Midrand police communications officer, Constable Matome Tlamela said if people were involved in an accident and felt unsafe to stop, they should rather drive to the the police station, rather than stop at the side of the road.
