
She said, “On 7 February at 6pm I parked and locked my car at the shopping centre. As I parked I noticed a man in a taxi who kept looking at me and my car. I went into a shop at the centre and 15 minutes later I returned to find that the laptop bag that was in the boot had been stolen.”
Hajane explained, “I had important work documents in that bag, a marriage certificate and all my identity documents and letters with my address on them.”
Hajane said when she asked security if they had seen anyone break into her car, the security guards said they did not.
“I reported the matter to Midrand police and I was told I was the seventh person to report such a matter about San Ridge Square. Police must quickly investigate such matters to curb these crimes.”
Midrand police spokesperson Constable Matome Tlamela said many cases have been reported about San Ridge Square. “There have been a lot of cases reported at San Ridge Square and other shopping centres in the area. Vehicle owners must take extra care at looking after their vehicles and making sure they are locked.”
San Ridge Square centre manager Ilze Boshoff said, “In February we installed anti-car-jamming devices at San Ridge Square to try and limit any car-jamming incidents. Car-jammings are a problem all over Gauteng.”
