Drug dealers busted

MIDRAND - Four men were arrested for being in possession of drugs in Midrand policing precinct.

Two men were arrested at the Noordwyk centre after a tip-off from a member of the public. Midrand police communications officer, Constable Matome Tlamela said the police arrested the two suspects, aged 32 and 39, on 12 May.

“While the police were patrolling around the area, they were approached by a member of the public informing them that there were two men inside a Toyota Tazz and the informer gave the police the registration number of the Tazz. He said that they looked suspicious,” said Tlamela.

She said the police searched the vehicle. “During the search the police found a shaving brush containing drugs. Both suspects were immediately arrested on charges of possession of drugs.”

Another two suspects were arrested for being in possession of drugs, bribery and negligent driving.

Midrand police’s Sergeant Benji Nkatingi arrested the two men, aged 28 and 35 on 13 May while he was patrolling around the Halfway Garden’s area.

He saw a Corsa with two occupants drive through a red traffic light and he gave chase. Nkatingi managed to pull over the vehicle and after a search found drugs inside.

“The suspects tried to bribe the officer with R1 000. They were arrested by Midrand police and charged with being in possession of drugs, bribery and reckless and negligent driving,” said Tlamlea.
