Sefikeng enjoys a fun outing

BARBEQUE DOWNS - The community treated some Grade R pupils to a morning of fun and filled their tummies with tasty treats on 16 May.

The outing was part of the community’s Easter goodwill initiative as the various complexes were challenged to collect as many Easter eggs as possible over the Easter period.

Fontaine de Vaucluse won the competition by collecting 292 eggs, Fairways placed second with 284 eggs and Kyalami View placed third with 72 eggs.

Grade R pupils from Sefikeng Primary, which is based in Leeuwkop Prison’s premises, were invited to a fun-filled morning at Da Vincenzo Restaurant in Barbeque Downs.

This is the second year in a row the community has hosted this event for the pupils and, by the squeals of delight and beaming smiles on the pupils’ faces, the day was a hit again.

Chairperson of Barbeque Downs Community Candice James facilitated the day which featured eating pizza, jumping on the jumping castle, climbing on the jungle gym and playing fun games until the highlight of the day arrived – to hunt for Easter eggs.

While it is after Easter, the hunt was a hit as the pupils explored the grounds of Da Vincenzo Restaurant to hunt for the eggs… and they found many. While some were quickly devoured, most were collected in a large bag to share out among all pupils at the school.

The pupils then enjoyed a refreshing ice-cream, topped off with more playtime and some juice before they headed back to the school bus, tired with full tummies and happy hearts.

The Grade R teachers Martha Moshugi and Jeanette Lebako thanked James, Barbeque Downs Community and Da Vincenzo Restaurant for hosting the pupils for the fun day.
